Black Hole Weaponry poor customer service.
« on: January 13, 2014, 04:13:03 PM »
Man I have heard so many good things about them I figured I would give them a shot. I was in a AR shop in Portland and they had a lot of there barrels sitting around. I got to talking to the guy and he said they had some pretty cool chambering's for the 308 platform. So I got online and looked and found a couple that interested me. I have tried to call them 6+ times in the last week and no one will pick up the phone. Really making me change my mind about giving them a shot.

Yeah I don't know. Everyone has raved about them but I am not having good luck. I don't know why they are so poor about picking up the phone. Maybe they are playing patty cake at the shot show or something.

Did you leave a message? I know they are a small shop and I wouldn't call not picking up the phone bad customer service.

They are probably all at the Shot Show right now.  I have two of their barrels, and they are good!  (anything that makes a shaky old guy like me look good, is great!)  They have had a problem getting barrels out in a reasonable time, though.  Maybe a standard chambering would take less time, but both of mine were custom chamberings, and they took forever.  I think I ordered my last barrel when they were in the process of moving, because I ordered the barrel from Moses Lake, and the barrel was shipped from Oregon. (8 months later).  :chuckle:

I got my barrel smoking fast! ;)

It's hard to get ahold of them sometimes, they are in Oregon now and far from small anymore.

You can make orders over the phone but all online orders are through their sister company.

http://www.tacticalammunition.com

You can look through all their barrels and configuration and also purchase at the above link.

Remember!!! Starting the 15th tomorrow. All online barrel sales are 20% off this includes all barrel options and fluting! Smoking deal.

The last time I dealt with them they were small :)  sounds like they are doing well.  Looked at the SHOT show directory and they aren't listed but could be with someone else, I'll look for them starting tomorrow ;)

Might give High Mountain  in Wenatchee a call. They have several AR-10 type 308 barrels in stock, and have a direct line with BHW.
Also there barrel pricing is great And they will take care of any issues on the spot.
My guess is BHW staff is on the way to SHOT.

I do for sure call it bad business/poor customer service. If in a week they won't pick up the phone that is bad business in anyone's book. Could you imagine calling any business you wanted to get ahold of and not being able to get a hold of them for a week. There is no way to leave a message every time I have called the phone just rings and rings and rings. No way to leave even a message.

I was going to give them a shot with all the good I have been hearing. Yet nothing makes me shy away from doing business with anyone more then bad customer service. I am in no way questioning there products but when no one will pick up a phone then I have a problem.

Yeah after talking with the shop owner and then knowing about the sale coming up. I figured I would order a couple customs. Have to reconsider it a little now.

Carpsniper  --  Which number are you using?  They have moved  and most of the operations are coming out of St. Helens, Oregon.  If you have a specific question, I would be glad to try and get that answered for you.  Carl and Company are down at the Shot Show this week and are probably running shorthanded.  I have his direct line and can forward any questions you might have.  We have the ability to get you your answers.

I inquired as to the issue of people trying to contact BHW. Andy with BHW contacted me this morning, he let me know the phone number has not been updated on the BLack Hole Weaponry site(Since the move to Oregon) and assured me there would be staff on hand at the number bellow if you had any questions.

I received a phone call a while ago from one of the employees. After talking with her that is indeed the case they still had not changed there contact information since the move to Oregon. The number listed no longer even has a voice mail or anything noting the move to Oregon. After hearing about my problems she contacted there website guy and he is not able to go in and access that page to even change the number. I expressed me being unhappy and she totally understood. I also got them thinking about all the other people like me that have called that listed number only to have no one answer. I am sure I am not the only one and it has cost them some money.

The guys are shot show from what she told me and they are very busy but the number listed above is the number to call. I told her I was not interested in ordering at this time.

She understood and offered her help if I changed my mind.

Not even close. 100% what I have posted is true and not unnecessary. We don't delete posts when people post about bad customer service with cabelas or another company. Why would we delete this one? I am not bashing but telling the truth of my experience.

I don't consider it bashing, Carp had a concern and voiced his experience and opinion. Calls were made and e-mails were sent and BHW is responding by correcting phone numbers and contacted Carp. As I see a course is being taken by BHW to correct the situation. Positive forward momentum is all that can be done to correct it and that is happening.

I don't see how it was bad customer service on their part if you called a bad number.

And yes, we have deleted plenty of threads about customer service when they are unfounded or unnecessary.

I called the number they had listed that is not my fault. They had not made the changes.

This is not unfounded or unnecessary. I don't know why you have a problem with this thread. I am posting 100% facts. Not bashing anything. It is getting results and other members are coming forward with good and bad.

If it was unfounded I would not be telling the truth and posting made up stuff. Which is not the case. There are threads like this all the time. Cableas/sportsmans etc etc.

This is 100% necessary if not for me posting this people would still be calling the wrong number listed on there website. This thread will help people. Plus it got them to working on there problems. What is more necessary then that?

I think Carp's concern is legit.  If a company is going to change their phone number, they should change it and not leave an old phone # for the general public to see. If they're going to be at SHOT or where ever and not able to answer the phone, they should have a voice recording saying that they're unavailable because they are where ever they are and will be able to return phone calls on date X whenever they are able to. I'm not typically one to publicly comment about this sort of thing, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't. The problem got resolved...and that's exactly how topics like this should go down. Someone, somewhere made a mistake and now they know and fixed it. Not reason enough for me to not do business with them though either, especially if they make a good product.

It's bad right out of the gate. He didn't even get to the part about asking for customer service and he couldn't reach the company. Good customer service starts with being available to your customers. If you can't complete step 1...you need some help.

They make good barrels.  I just wish they were more honest with their delivery time.  On both barrels, the person who took my order said it would be 6-8 weeks.  The first barrel was delivered in a little over 6 MONTHS.  The second barrel was delivered a little more than 8 MONTHS, and that was after I emailed them saying that 8 moths to get a barrel was getting ridiculous.  I got an email right back saying that my order would be given top priority.  The barrel arrived a week later.  At the time, I was unaware of the move, so the delay was understandable.  I would not call either purchase bad customer service.  Just poor order delivery.  :twocents:

I have been in their old shop, in fact I sold him one of my machines.  They were a small operation with lots of work.  I can see not catching a call for a day or so....If my name is on the line,  I want to watch the line. It's easy to quote delivery times and easy to stick to them when everything goes well. ....add a bad batch of steel or a machine going down and suddenly the world is a different place.  I'm not defending misquoted lead times, but if you do much barrel shopping you will learn that none of the makers hit the mark very often on lead times.
Good product,  quick delivery or cheap......Pick one.

Well I decided to give it a go. I ordered 2 of the 4 barrels I planned on ordering. Says 8-10 weeks out so we will see. I have read on several other sites that order time has been slow but I am gambling because of the great reviews. I will update this when I have got them and get them built and run some rounds down range.

All I am saying is they did not even get the chance to provide you poor customer service and your posting about it online.

:yeah: seems that way to me too, sounds like nothing but a technical difficulty on their website  :dunno:

seems like it would be more accurate if you titled the topic "wrong number on website"

Indeed it could be that now that we know that was the problem. I still feel it is poor customer service if I cant even get ahold of them. I guess that is up to the individual and that is the way I feel.

BHW is reporting a 10-12 week wait on barrels.  They just sold a huge amount with their SHOT Show special.  I got in a 458 SOCOM a few weeks ago and a 450  Bushmaster and bolt was delivered to my 'smith yesterday.  As soon as the uppers are opened up and built I should be having a good time.

I called them three times last week and the phone was aanswered every time with the number on their website
