Last weekend's duck hunt. How did everyone do?
« on: January 14, 2014, 07:29:10 PM »
Tried our luck this weekend due to the big storm that we got. Haven't had much luck since opening day.  Sure seemed like there was lots of new birds showing up had decent action Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was the craziest hunt I ever seen, had lighting hit 4 different spots of  at once, one hit directly behind the blind. I only shot 2 that day. had geese buzzing the pond but they did not want to decoy and ducks could barely land cause of the wind, Sunday was perfect...not a lot of huge flocks but we had good action throughout the day and had a one man limit with 3 people. I went home with 4 drakes 1 mallard and 3 wigeon Sunday..how about you guys any luck with the weather?

It was great on Sunday. Saturday we went to the East side for geese. Our layout blinds blew away. Sunday came home and wacked em across from the house.

Slow on Sunday. Great weather, very skittish birds.

Never fired my gun Sat. Partner shot twice and got two ducks. Tough weather and no birds made for a long day. We quit at noon.

Seems like everyone has dealt with same suck-age lately...didn't go duck hunting today but some family went to our spot and said it was slow they only got 3 birds with 3 hunters...sure hope next year is different! :bash:!

Should have seen the ducks on Macintosh today...the birds know where they're safe.

Hunted yesterday(Sat, 18th). Partner shot one duck. Moved with the tide but no birds around. Quit early. I think we lost our locals with that early Dec freeze. I know the migrators went thru then. No reason for them to stop as we were frozen solid. Not even sure if I am going to go out next weekend.

Very nice on the triples. Not very often you even get the opportunity for a triple.
