So you can buy a point at this time? Is it like here in Washington where you buy a point and not hunt.

We buy our points in the summer. I think it is from like July to September or something

:yeah: The "points only" period is July 1 - September 30.

That said, you can always apply for something way out of your league right now for your first choice, if you don't get it, you'll get a preference point now even if you draw choice #2 or #3.

I'll buy points for deer, elk, antelope this year and not sure about keeping my moose points after killing a bull here in WA last year.
I let my sheep points purge last year as it is way to expensive for points, tag, and a required guide for me to keep applying for rams in WY. with the odds of drawing a tag.

Sorry to thread jack but I have wyoming question.   As a non resident do I need to draw for the general tags and if so do you pay for the whole amount (tags and application fees) before January 31st?

Weather-wise, we've only had about a week of miserably cold weather. Within a week, it was back to 40 degrees. Still seeing a TON of game, no winterkills.

I've been doing elk, deer, and pronghorn points in several states for a couple of years but have largely kept away from moose, ram and goat tags in most states. I was actually thinking of juming in this year. Are you saying that it might be more cost effective to maybe just go to Cananda when ready to hunt a ram than spending three decades building points in some of these states?

No, you do not need to apply just for Gen tags.  You can choose a specific hunt area(s) if you want.
Yes, you pony up the fees upfront when you do your application.  Depending on which species you apply for, WY retains a small fee for application purposes if you are not successful.
