How do they act when in the spotlight? How to tell the difference between a cat and a coyote?

Better yet--How do you tell the difference between a coyote and a deer when the spotlight lights up their eyes in the dark?
It's called "Know Your Target!"

It not that I don't know what they look like or am going to just shoot at eyes. I want to know how they act so when I see eyes to far out to see any body detail I can have an idea if i need to call for a dog or a cat!

Coyotes run. Bobcats will sit and not look at the light much. Then you might catch its eyes 10-20 ft away, then sit for a bit again. Lights don't spook the bobcats but they won't look at the light long. I have shined a cat for 45 minutes before actually getting a shot on it and it only moved 15 ft

Ha! The last Bobcat I shot under the light was 220 yards out laying on a flat rock licking one of his rear feet when that 100gr .243 bullet passed through him.
