Cool, that's what I'm trying for right now. Probably will only get coyotes and maybe a bobcat if I'm lucky.

Did you use any kind of attractant or bait?

I put some salt out for the elk, this cat has been in this area all last year, I've herd him scream while checking cameras, got pictures of him 22 minutes before we arrived at the camera in July, make you look over your shoulder every now and then.

you know bobcat, ive had multiple occasions where i get lions showing up to my deer bait sites.  now im pretty sure that cougars arent interested in alfalfa, but i think the really heavy deer and elk smell will bring them in to check it out.  so in a sense baiting a cam for deer / elk is kind of baiting for cougar too

I've not yet been "lucky" enough to catch a cougar with any of my trail cams that were set for deer/elk. I guess that's a good thing. I've been doing the trail cams for a few years now and run them all summer and fall for deer and elk.

Then in the winter I've been setting them for whatever predators I can get, and always get bobcats and coyotes, but only once did I catch a cougar, and that was two years ago.

We'll see what happens this winter. I'm only trying one spot this year but I've got four cameras up.  :o.

So far all I got is a possum but it's only been 2 weeks.

4 cams in one spot?  wouldnt you be better off covering 4 spots?

Yes, and that's what I normally do, but don't have the ambition this year. It's a lot of work keeping bait out once the critters find it and start showing up on a regular basis.

I wouldn't even have four cameras up but two are new and I'm just wanting to test them. Next weekend I will probably pull two so only two will be left. I like to have a white flash camera for color photos at night, and another camera for video.
