Friends and Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce the publication of the DNR 2013 Annual Report. Among the accomplishments highlighted in the report, DNR:
•Generated over $215 million in revenue for trust beneficiaries such as K-12 public schools, colleges, universities, state institutions, and county services
•Increased leasing income by more than 23 percent from irrigated lands, orchards, and vineyards
•Partnered with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in creating Washington's first state-managed community forest, the Teanaway Community Forest
•Removed 44 derelict vessels that were a hazard to navigation and a danger to the environment
•Committed resources to suppress 742 wildfires in one of the most challenging wildfire seasons we have seen in recent years
•Adopted the Green Mountain and Tahuya State Forest Recreation Plan, a plan developed through an extensive community engagement process including a citizen-based advisory committee

 

My sincere thanks to everyone whose hard work and commitment made 2013 a successful year. The dedicated professionals at DNR have proven themselves leaders and innovators in sustainable natural resource management. At no time has this been more evident than in 2013.
