Season comes to an end....
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:19:12 PM »
Well, had a good run this year chasing the red legged devils with the pup. It was my dogs first full year in the field. Lots of smiles and a few grey hairs. It felt like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, none the less, was a lot of fun and hard work.

Please post your pics below of seasons success.

This was early in the day yesterday.  After this we just got into quail.  We put up 10 covies of quail yesterday with endless singles.  I came very close to running out of shells and still didn't put a limit in the bag.  I had the most bird contacts of the entire year yesterday.

These are some of my favorites from the year:

This was my first year hitting it hard, I have only hunted grouse in the past. Learned a lot and had fun, but watching my dog develop into a decent hunter was the best part.

That is awesome. We pit up three covies of Huns and one large covey of chukar. Not much to show for it but very foggy. Good to know there will be plenty of left overs for next year!

Did very well during the first two months and then other folks started showing up. don't know how the guy in the black crew cab did. he has been hunting hard though.

I don't take many pictures if any at all. this is my favorite from this season of sophie.  Thinking back to when my dad and I hunted with patches. man oh man I miss her. I should post up a pic when I find one of her in the old days.

I am going to have this one framed...
Very cool photo!  Till next year!

No sir. The one with the grouse is English, AJ JEWSON!  Dale Tate tells me it was OEM BY WEBLEY SCOTT. EARLY 20s gun. Beautiful condition. Very well made!

The S x S with the Hun and quail is a 1903 sterlingworth I rebuilt to almost new condition.

Jetjockey,
I have a 20ga AYA 453, a  Bill Hanus bird gun I ordered from him. By far the best gun I ever owned. Killed 16 quail with 20 shots over points with it the last weekend of the season. It has 27in barrels and fits me like a glove.

Merkel,

You look familiar. By any chance did we meet at a hotel in Ephrata and hunt quail for the Day?
