Snoqualmie valley public release sites?
« on: January 21, 2014, 09:03:45 PM »
So an area like cherry valley public hunting site, and the other water fowl \ pheasant release sites - are they ok to shoot  coyotes?  Shotgun or now since they are firearm restricted zones, right?

do you need to follow legal light rules for water fowl or just be done by dark when the sites are technically closed?

Steel shot only. Better public land around for coyotes than those.

Yes, but was exploring one yesterday with my son and we got within 40 yards of a yote.

I belive there is a restriction onthe kind of hunting on those sites... Iknow there is no Big game hunting allowed.

We bagged one years ago in Stillwater and Cherry valley has some bobcats by the woods to. My buddy seen a nice cat as I was pheasant hunting but no shot. Call the local game warden to see if the you can enter early and leave late. You can only use steelshot in BB,BBB,T,and F if you can find F or buy Heavyshot in 4 buck shot or T shot. Good luck

How do you know that there is no big game hunting?  Somewhere in the regs?  Was not posted on the signs.  Though one place said steel shot only - so was wondering if you had a lead slug for yotes if you could get in trouble?

You can hunt big game but only with slugs or heavy shot in buckshot. I hunted bear in Stillwater and use to hunt Deer at Cresent lake but no more lead buck shot. Lead slugs are ok but the buck shot has to be lead free.

It says in the Bird Reg's that NO LEAD SHOT. Slugs are not shot so it is legal to use also heavy shot in Buck and T shot works great.  I called and asked years ago after the law changed and the land went to steelshot only. Lots of people use to hunt big game there but not many people anymore. Cherry valley not so much deer but the back part has some. I have jumped Elk,Deer, bear and Coyotes in Stillwater and Deer in Cresant lake Deer.

Sergeant Kim Chandler (425) 775-1311 ext. 122.

This is the only number i could find to try and get clarification. let us know what you find out. I could not find the rules on this issue.

I know that Happy Gilmore works with Brian the snoqualmie wildlife area manager which on dog training stuff.
