I suspect the .244 Remington has a 12 inch twist barrel. It was later rebranded to the 6mm Remington and probably had the twist rate changed down to either 9 or 10 inch.I also believe there was an attempt at the name changing to try and name it the 6mm Remington Magnum. I can't find any evidence of that on the web via yahoo.
That 12 twist barrel model was an intended varmint gun with light bullets in mind.........Im thinking anything over 80gr would not stabilize what so ever......
Says pretty much that.........trouble stabilizing 100gr with the 12 twist so the newer 6mm rems were fit with 9 twist for the heavier bullets........to me, the 12 twist woulkd be relegated to dogs with 75gr hollow points, just like the one I had in 1975.
