Tikka t3 mods, what does everyone have
« on: January 22, 2014, 07:24:43 PM »
Just wondering what kind of mods everyone has done to their t3s? Muzzle breaks, stocks? Post some pics and tell me how they improved the gun

I just painted mine with a texture paint because I couldn't stand how smooth the stock was

My 300wsm t3 lite... Bell and Carlson stock was all it needed to be comfortable and solid to shoot... No need for a muzzle break unless you got a 338 haha

If I had one which I probably never will I would consider putting a recoil lug in it. :chuckle:

Scratches, gave it some character.

You have never actually pulled a stock on one huh? Tightest fitting factory stock I have ever seen with a pretty stout recoil lug. That accuracy guarantee they give is no joke, they really shoot.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Probably for making sure the rifle is level for taking longer shots.

That B/C stock kind of helps everything I don't like about Tikka's. Does it still shoot like it's supposed to?

With a level on the scope and a level on top of the action, my guess is he's mounting/leveling a new scope.

I just made sure the barrel was clear of the stock, put a limbsaver on it (stock was a tad short for me and that spaced it enough), and go out and shoot.  Gun needs nothing but a steady guy holding it to be a tackdriver. Id buy another in a heartbeat.

I would agree with the top scope level and use of the other level on the rail. I have a level that is mounted to my scope that stays on all the Time for leveling up prior to shooting. May not be the case here but might. Just like a level in a archery sight.

Dropped mine off yesterday to get a muzzle break put on and he's going to set the trigger for me. Should have it back by wenesday. Thinking of a b&c stock down the road.

What's everyone paying for their stocks?

I have done a few to most of mine. The one that I went crazy on is the 300wsm. I re built the magazine and added some new mods to it to run long heavy bullets like the 190 and 210 bergers to a COAL that I wanted. I also made this mod because it was flattening then noses on some of the bullets in the magazine like the accubond.

In doing this mod I also had to replace the bolt stop to get the rifle to cycle the now longer rounds. So it is now a long action short mag :chuckle: I have been loving it even more since the mods. I will be painting the stock after my next trade show when I find some time.

If I were going to mod something it would be a Remington,  they need it.

Tikka is a grab and go gun, top it with some decent glass and go hunt,  beat the snot out of it, drop it whatever.  It's disposable.

I just put a Limbsaver on my 300 WSM and adjusted the trigger to about 2  3/4 lbs. I've never had a better shooter but I'm not one to punch a lot of paper. About a dozen animals later and it still has me smiling when I shoot it.

I had a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 with Tikka specific Warne rings at my first sight in. It definitely kicks in 308! I've since installed a limbsaver and will be picking up a quake claw sling for it.
