Bruiser down!!!
« on: November 14, 2008, 10:21:55 PM »
So I was sitting around the house today not doing a dang thing when a kid buddy of mine calls me and asks if I will take him hunting!!!  He had just got out of school so I told him "hell why not"....We head out and walk thru a clearcut where we didnt see a thing!!! I tell him we better hurry up and get down the mountain so we dont have to walk out in the dark!!!!  We come around a corner and here he comes straight up the road towards us.....I stutter and say b... b....b..b..uckkk big buck shooot it!!!...lol...I was more excited than him...The buck turns and is headed into the brush so i whistled...he wheels around and booooom....I see a good hit and hear him crashing through the brush.....Then i head a loud crash and knew he was down!!!! We give him a few minutes and then go in after him....I went on one side and he went on the other and after about 80 yards he lets out a yell "here he is and Oh My God!!!!"   I take off over there and he is down.....18 inches wide and pretty tall....5 inch bases and a perfect 4x4 with about 3 inch eye guards....The biggest blacktail i have ever seen on the hoof.......Should be up there in the books for the youth category!!!!!   Little *censored* anyways!!!  lol    Well pics to come once I get em on the computer!!!

Great Blacktail! I would guess he'll go 120-130. He should get in the Washington book, especially for a youth. Congrats to a successful young hunter.

Yea the kid bought his liscense and didnt deer hunt a day all season...He shoots massive ducks and geese and has been doing that every day instead....So his first day out for deer and he gets this!!!!  I had been scouting the area and knew there was a big one around by the amount and size of the rubs in the area!!!  The buck was rubbing trees during the modern season and didnt move 100 yards from that area!!  Man they are incredible animals....I will get a big one some day!!!

This buck had some serious wounds on his body also!!!! Had a broken and healed shoulder where it looked like had been shot or maybe hit by a car sometime in his life....Crazy looking....I should have taken a picture of it!!!

Dang it's the year of the Blacktail. Gotta love'm with eyeguards, just don't see that many with well developed ones. Way to take the time with a young hunter.
