ravensdale update please read
« on: November 14, 2008, 10:58:44 PM »
well we spend two days up around the substation the first day we saw nothing stomped around all day until the sun went down so we packed up the truck pulled out of the parking area about 50 ft and in the middle of the road stands a nice 4 point who proceeds to jump the gardrail and onto private property just my luck. today same story but no site of the buck so we leave at about 12:00 but i thought i would give it one more shot so i headed back up at about 3pm walked around didn't see anything except for some idiots driving a car where i wanted to glass :bash: so the suns just about down and i see some head lights and low behold its a king county sherriff who informs me that this area has been closed to fire arms for some time because of people dumping stolen cars out there which didn't make much sense but what ever and is only open for bow season. but being a new hunter she lets me off with a warning thank god so please spread the word.

thats the way I read it two but a couple on the site told me it was open and ive talk to other people that said it was open as well im going to look further in to it im thinkin maybe they are saying its closed  because there are houses near by that are complaining of gun shots but what doesn't make sence is that the officer was called out there for a report of gun shots and there is a open shooting range not even a mile from there that you can hear all day long :dunno:

Try calling the county sherriffs office and ask about firearm restrictions in that area.  The GMU may be open, but there may be firearm restrictions for certain areas within the GMU.  I dont belive those county ordinances will be posted in the regs.

Whats this white bridge across from the sub station? I drive out there all the time, I assume your referring to the substation where everyone used to ride quads and bikes until the owner put the fence up?

Thats what I thought. I know there are elk in the area and some deer, but they seem to be few and far between.

My fiances parents live just down the road and they actually have a hybrid that hangs around their neighborhood. It will even let you pet it.

That area behind the substation can get to some cool parts of the Green River. Very nice views of the gorge.

It's firearms restricted by the county.  You can see the small white signs on the trees along the road as your driving out past ravensdale...It sucks cuz there are some nice big bulls and bucks back there.  Wish I knew how they can get an area restricted so we could figure out what it would take to fight it and get it unrestricted...it seems like at least one person a year about gets killed nailing a big elk crossing the road.

It is all about how many people live in the area, and the housing density.  Growing up in the  Hockinson/Brush Prairie area, we could shoot any firearm we wished, then the boundary went to where the gravel road used to start going up Larch Mtn to the Honor Camp, now I have no idea how far it goes, every time I go up there the houses are farther and farther up the hill.

The funny thing is, you can target practice in a firearm restricted area on your property (as long as the neighbors do not complain), but you can not hunt!  I was told this by a Clark County Sheriff and it was backed up by F&G.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
