Neat band story
« on: January 27, 2014, 02:58:46 PM »
My buddy shot these three ducks last week on a jump shoot. Two of them had bands. Surprised to find out  they were banded over three years ago. Bands were ten numbers apart. Surprised they stuck together that long. Birds were banded in boundary bay,WA and the birds were shot in snohomish. Heard of geese being together for life but haven't heard much about it with puddle ducks.

Wow a married banded couple! That is cool. I know mallards will stay paired up year around but also know a drake will breed up to 20+ other hens that are without a mate.

Johnny;

Those ducks seem to stay together longer than most railroaders do.

Cool hunt, cool birds!  You should mount them as a pair. It would be an awesome conversation piece.
