Deep water we use long lines. Shallow water I use Texas Rigs or keel weight. I have 4 dozen rigged for fast water with 8 oz weights on 15' lines.

For puddlers I usually hunt in shallow water, 0-10'. For divers I try to set up in deep water. Deep enough that they can't see the bottom when flying. This is especially true on the Columbia where the water is clear. Weed beds are an exception.

I run trout line clips 5 feet below the decoy on tangle free line, that way I can connect them to a long line and not worry about the dog or motor getting tangled or I can clip on a 4oz weight for calm ponds or 8oz weights for moving water.
