Mounting bases?
« on: January 31, 2014, 03:09:32 PM »
When mounting bases on the top of your gun, do you guys use loc-tite and if you do, which color.  I am going pull the mounting screws on the top of my rifle and mount the Weaver #12 blocks to it.  If I ever want to remove them and go with irons, than I have to choose how much loc-tite to use and whether red or blue.

I never have my scope plates haven't come loose ever. If its for a really heavy caliber and your worried it might come loose use a little drop of blue. Red loc-tite takes a torch to come back off its meant for permanent attachment.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Blue loctite for the base. Nothing on the rings. That's how I roll.

I've heard clear nail polish a lot but first time for pink.

Probably so you can tell how much you put on the threads and where.  :dunno:

I used the pink nail polish for the first time when I was setting the trigger nuts on my .30-'06. Worked so good now I use for all my thread locking needs. Latest use was on a bicycle baggage rack.
