6mm is .244. .243 is .243. Same bullets. Slightly longer case length in the 6mm and 6 ° difference in the shoulder angle. I have shot .243 in the 6mm in a pinch but NOT vice versa. You can use .243 dies for 6mm if you neck size only.

Have been shooting both for many years.

There are several 85-90 grain bullets designed for game rather than varmints that should stabilize in the 1:12 twist.  Berger #24524, Speer #1217, Sierra #1530, and a couple of others.  Midway has the Speers available at $25/100.

This is very bad information.  More than just a slightly longer case in the 6mm.  And how would it be ok to use a 243 die to neck size a 6mm with a 6 degree difference in the shoulder angle?  Your lucky you haven't blown your rifle up.

Hmmmmmm. I'll neck size 6mm Rem all day with a .243 Win die. With the die set right it works great, you can't get the complete neck but I don't size the whole neck anyway if being fired in the the same rifle/chamber.

A 7.5 or 8 twist and the right bullet is where it's at in the .243 Win chambering. ;)
