Looking to do a buffalo hunt with my dad. I was hoping to get recommendations for somewhere in Washington, Oregon, or western Montana. I have done some checking and comparing of prices and figure a trophy bull will cost 5000-6000. Good thing we are going to be splitting it 3 ways.

I believe you can do a buffalo hunt in Oregon. Get a hold of one of the outfitters on this site and they will hook you up.

5000-6000
. When I went to school in Montana, my teacher knew a rancher that had bought buffalo when the meat was worth gold. Shortly after it tanked and he could give the meat away, so he decided it was more profitable to just set them up for hunts. His ranch was upwards of 30,000 acres and these buffalo were free roaming on the ranch. My roommate decided he would sign up for one. The rancher charged 600 for a cow and 1200 for a bull. Since my roommate was just doing it for the experience and meat, he just paid for the cow. I was able to tag along and film the whole thing, looking back on it I am kicking myself for not taking advantage of the situation. I wish I had the contact info for the guy, he was a total class act, I probably could of saved you some $$$$$ if he was still providing the hunts.

I've got a 5.5 year old bull available for $4950, but it's near Billings, Montana.

Another option if you're interested in going now, check with Willie at Jim Rim Guide Service(on the net), he has a 9 year old, 2000lb+ Bull for $5500.00 and he will accommodate another at no charge, 3 days, 2 nights, and it is a hunt and fun, not just shooting one in a pen, which was my biggest fear.... you won't be disappointed.

Are you guys looking to do these Bison hunts within the next few weeks or later this fall?
The Bison are going to start shedding there winter hair very soon. I've had Bison come in, in February with good winter hair but I have had just as many come in with really damaged hair.
By damaged I mean all that gold colored hair on there shoulders will be gone or very splotchy from patches falling out. It will go from a 4-6" hair down to there 2" summer coat. They will be rolling and rubbing and breaking there hair off. They won't make for a very good mount.
Now for a meat hunt that's different.
