I've picked out what I want to buy, an SR22 with a  crimson Trace laser at Bud's Gun Shop.  Here's a link if anyone is interested - http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/411549944

I see that you have to have it shipped to a gun dealer, who charges a transfer fee ($40) at the local place I have my eye on.  No problem, but the local place tells me I'll have to pay sales tax even though it's an on-line purchase from another state since I'll be getting the transfer through them.  Does that sound right?  No way to get away from sales tax on an internet gun purchase? :dunno:

Find a private citizen with an FFL to do the transfer would be my only suggestion....

That private citizen with an FFL would also have to pay the sales tax if they get audited.................Band, unfortunately its true, just another way gun owners take it in the shorts.

www.lowpriceguns.com out of Bellevue has some good prices too. Most haven't heard of them, I've bought from them before.

x2 for lowpriceguns - On new guns purchased off their site there is no shipping or ffl fee if you pick up in store in Bellevue.  I think they are about $40 for transfers of everything else.  Bought a few from them or transferred to them and never a problem with either method.

Norpoint Shooting Range in Arlington has decent prices on new guns, they are generally $50 to $100 cheaper for their guns then at Cabelas. They have a huge sellection of handguns. I just bought a 40 caliber M&P from them this afternoon. I bought about seven handguns there and will be buying a few more oner the course of the year.

If you look on GunBrokler they have a "Find AFFL Dealer in your state" click onto Washington state and there isa bunch of them, there are several who only charge $25 for the transfer, and any guns bought online are subject to a "User Fee" same rate as the sales tax.

Guns are one of those things that I want to put in my hand before I buy.

I purchesed a rifle from GrabaGun.com before and they were great.  They had the best price at the time for what I was looking for.

Thanks, xd, looks pretty official to me.  Wasn't counting on paying tax but I don't see any way around it.

In an audit someone is always going to pay the tax, WA don't let that one go.
I've used Gunbroker, Bud's and Grab-A-Gun all without any problems.  That said, often times you can find the gun for about the same locally.

Great link.  I see that there are several local small-time gun dealers linked to that site so I'm looking at prices locally for a good deal.  Only having purchased guns from retail stores in the past, are there scams or other pitfalls to watch out for when buying from someone who operates out of their house?

On gunbroker, just watch the feedback and history.
