San Juan Islands rental recommendations
« on: February 07, 2014, 11:30:31 AM »
Hi All,

I can use some recommendations on renting a cabin or house in the San Juan’s.   I’m not looking for a large resort.

I’m trying to put together a family vacation and having never been there, I hate to take a shot-in-the-dark!

Ideally, it would be on the water, boat rental somewhere nearby, want to fish, maybe clam, etc.  I'm looking at the end of May or early June.

If you’ve got some ideas, PLEASE pass them along.

Thanks,
Carl

Any island in particular? How much you willing to spend?
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

...another good site: www.vrbo.com.

I'd recommend chartering a guide instead of renting a boat- especially if you have not been there before.  Halibut/Lings/Shrimp during that time, but you need to know where to go and have the right equipment.

No particular island.  And < $2,000 for 5 nights.

Thanks,
Carl

Good advice.  That might be my next question.   :chuckle:

West Beach on Orcas Island....Cabins on the water. In the past we rented a boat in Deer Harbor
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.

If I was going to stay in the San Juans  Personally I would stay in Roche Harbor at the Hotel De Haro

http://www.rocheharbor.com/lodging/hotel-de-haro I think it's over $200 a night in the Summer but lots of good History,  and right on the water.

I'll shoot you a PM as I spend too much time on the Islands
