I just picked up my trail cam today and here are some pictures that caught my eye. By the way this is unit 407.

how close is this to human population, they are NOT coyotes.

They are the new genetic coyote-wolf hybrids being released in certain areas to control deer populations

. I saw one the other day near 407 and that Damn thing was 60-70 lbs. and wasn't afraid of nothing. No wonder the deer left

i didn't know BT's were overpopulating?

If anything we are low in numbers in all north sound units!

I wondeer if they are the native timber wolf that have been around the border area for some time?

The BT's are over-populating in the No Hunting zones or green belts and even some of the islands

Are wolves and yotes becoming friends now?

The one in those pics looks to have a wolfish look to it, but the other kind of has a yote look.

Looks like coyotes to me. The only thing that is odd/different is the markings/color of the dark one. Other than that, it looks just like a coyote. Narrow snout, larger ears etc. I suppose it could be a hybrid with a dog. Shepherd or something like that.

Coyote. Look at the ears and how slim the snouts are.

I agree they look like coyotes, I've just never seen a coyote that color.

Maybe those two have some domestic dog in there genetic background. That could account for appearing larger and having different colorations. Saw that many times in Louisiana.

I think the nose is too narrow, ears too long, body too petite, definitely not a wolf. Looks like a coyote, maybe a coyote crossed with dog.

Coyotes! Not sue how you could see a wolf in those photos. Nice pelts, I would go a shoot them if I were you.

I don't think it's a yote, at least not pure blood. Has to be a cross with some domestic dog

I see all coyote. Interesting coat on them but every other feature is a dead give away for a yote.

The darker one looks like a coydog to me. Not a wolf IMHO. Might be a darker color phase coyote. I read an article in Predator Master Magazine about coyotes in areas with lots of prey animals having several different color phases.

Does tricolor even exist in wild canines? I'd say coyotes and a coydog.

Interesting looking for sure. They should all be eliminated before we have another protected predator in our state. They may have to shut down hunting for miles around until they can be studied and determined what they really are

. I would think 15 years of closure ought to give them enough time to get the study started

. Adding $10 to each license sold will help fund it

Looks like a Coy-dog to me. I used to have a Coyote mixed with a Shepard that looked just like the one in the foreground. A coyote body, face, tail and behavior with German Shepard coloring.

Watched a special on PBS the other night about a hybrid k-9 called a Coywolf, found in the NE. These two look a lot like what they showed the other night on that special.

Markings look more malamute ish to me.
