2 days driving to/from the NE?  You need to learn the benefits of night driving, it'll help you feed your habit more often
When I lived in PA I would go right after work and drive all night, 8 hr drive. Last year I had surgery on my finger and was off work for a week, drove over to visit Mom and Dad. I had a doctor's app. the 16th. Opening morning I had my tom dead, cleaned in the cooler and was on the road back to PA by 10:30 am.

Yeah for sure I hate the trespassing crap.  Guys get a little overzealous when they hear that gobble gobble.

Thanks for all your help guys - looks like I've got plenty of area to scout!

Guess I'm just not tough enough to be a NE hunter  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

You don't need to be tough to hunt the NE corner, easy hunting over there compared to central Wa!

You'll waste more time and gas money making multiple trips to Cle Elum to get a chance at a bird when you can make one trip to the NE and get it done.   :twocents:

You would get the impression that to drive to the North East corner is a sure fire thing to get a turkey. Not so! You will have to get permission and scout out a place to hunt. Most people do not get a bird the first weekend with out a lot of experience or luck. If you have a very little time, you are best off to hook up with a experienced person/friend or a guide. Where the birds were last year is no guarantee they will be there this year.

It took me 3 years to get a Tom in Cle Elum and 2 hours in the NE. I'm not saying don't hunt Cle Elum, just need to put in the time and scout.

There is no easy turkey even for those who have a lot of experience no matter where you hunt them, and although I have never hunted turkeys in Central Wa (I have only hunted them in the NE and Western Wa), WDFW statistics year in and year out have over 2/3 of the state harvest coming out of the NE corner ... that's because the populations there are more than anywhere else in the state, there's is a lot of public land that hold the birds as well as private land, and most landowners are more than willing to let you harvest a few (as long as you treat them with the respect they deserve).   You can harvest a bird anywhere, so it comes down to your personnel choice and situation ... I just happen to like the NE and have made several good friends in that area.

The NE has been tough for me last few years but the birds, are around. I spend mire time in central wa due to its proximity for me and have seen more birds in last few years around there but lots of private land to deal with . It's a crap shoot both can be good but turkey hunting is never a given anywhere.

Hunted hard there last spring and didnt see a single turkey. However in the early and late elk seasons they were everywhere.
