Pay the 100$ at shop to diagnose.  Probably a cheap fix. :twocents:
I don't know if there is a difference in having a shop do the diagnose or a parts store. But it is free at O'reillys. :twocents:

Engine coolant temp sensor? (Ect)
Most definitely Google or forum search this test it mostly likely your culprit. Lots people will have you spend a crap load of money to not fix the issue test things before replacing. Lots of info on these vehicles on the web.

There is often a very big difference between getting a scan tool readout and getting the vehicle's problem diagnosed. Sometimes you can get lucky on a code diagnosis but it's less often than you might think.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

that pickup has ob1 not obd2  it takes a special reader but they are pretty handy. you can also plug a paper clip into the ports on the diagnostic plug and it will flash the code to you via check engine light. once again theres alot of this info on the toyota forums.
