Two Labs need homes
« on: February 09, 2014, 06:04:48 PM »
One of the guys at work has two labs (brother and sister, black and yellow) who will be two years old in May that he would like to find a new home for. He lives by Lake Stevens and has a Church Camp that borders his property. The issue is that the pups have found that if they swim the creek behind his house and go over to the church camp that they get fed by the patrons there. He has asked the camp to make sure that the people staying there do not feed his dogs, but of course the patrons don't listen and keep feeding his dogs. He is now worried about the liability of something happening to someone. Currently he is keeping them kenneled and has to do that at all times unless he is outside with them. As much as he wants to keep them he feels it is best to find them a new home. I am not sure if the dogs have any formal training I know that they have not been hunted. If you know anyone who would like a lab send me a PM and I will get you his contact information.

I will see what I can do.

I do know they are 100% lab and they are not hunters. At least they haven't been raised that way.

Why doesn't he build a kennel outside to confine his dog?
Or put fencing up around his property.
That's the only way to keep dogs home.

It has nothing to do with keeping the dogs contained. Their is another reason he is getting rid of them in which he does not want us to know of.If he wanted to keep them, he would build the great wall of China around his place. End of story. We need pictures. I might be able to find them a good home. And knowing the real underlying problem helps as well :twocents:

The wife said no more dogs. One over energetic Springer is enough.  :chuckle:

Okay sorry for no responses. Been a busy week and I no longer work directly with the guy looking to rehome his pups. I asked him to get me some pictures and he said that he would.

To let you know he is an middle-aged gentlemen who does not hunt (as stated in the original post), so there is no way to know if the dogs are gun shy. They are just pets for him. Even though he is older he is not planning on retiring yet, so when he is not home the dogs are kenneled and do not get to run. The only time that they are out now is when he is outside, so the feeling I got from his statements is that he feels it is not fair to the pups for being locked up all the time. As for building a fence, I am not sure that he can since his backyard has a creek in it. I am sure he has thought of that. I will post the pictures as soon as he sends them to me.

You are right. It isn't fair for them to be locked up. As far as a fence goes, he could buy a invisible fence and keep the dogs contained. The invisible fence might allow the dogs to not have to be kenneled as well. It sounds to me the owner of the dogs is just fishing for excuses to get rid of the dogs. Sooner you get pictures up, the sooner some folks can start searching for new homes for the pooches.
