LED boat headlightd

At the sportsman's show, I saw some jonboats with some serious led headlights. Anybody know what brand those were?

I know vision x lighting makes some. Wooldridge boat company uses them.

I have 4 RIGID DUALLYS on my truck. You don't need headlights with these babies............

Im not sure what the lights you are talking about are used for but be aware that using any light that is not the official navigational lights (red green up front and white in the stern) is not legal while underway. Using them to dock is OK but you cant use them to run in the dark.

Are you saying that using running/flood lights is against USCG or IMO regulation? If so that is news to me, and apparently most people I've run boats around.....

Yes, that is correct. I will look for the law tomorrow. It is illegal to use any light other than traditional nav lights while underway.

Those lights are considered "docking lights" you cannot use them underway.

"Head lights"for lack of a better term are really bad for your night vision and the night vision of the other boats around you.

I have 2 RIGID Dually D2's (6 LED instead of the standard Dually's 4) and I would be very comfortable driving with them instead of headlights.

I think a 10" spot/flood combo would be perfect for a small to medium sized boat. Illegal for night running but I can think of more than a few places I would be using it instead of the hand-held spotlight I usually do.

See lite leds sells great kites they sell them for both driving lights and they sell bowfishing ones for down into the water too

Thanks for the help. The ones I saw were rectangular, about 12" by 3",many leds.Not used for running, but for decoy setting and manuevering.

some light reading about navigation lights and rules. working on the water in the puget sound everyday area seems that most people need a refresher.  and plus one for rigid industries dually D2 we use them on deck for work lights they are awesome!

(b) The Rules concerning lights shall be complied with from sunset to sunrise, and during such time no other lights shall be exhibited, except such lights as cannot be mistaken for the lights specified in these Rules or do not impair their visibility or distinctive character, or interfere with the keeping of a proper look-out.

Plenty of room for interpretation there, I’d say, and rightfully so.  Otherwise you couldn’t have any cabin lights, no light on your compass, no work lights , no deck lighting, NOTHING.  Now that wouldn’t be right.
 
 This information comes from the Training facility that I attended to become a captain piloting vessels of 100 tons.

  I added (2) Rigid 24" light bars on my charter boat. They each shine a beam 750' long and 250' wide. Great for running at night and dogging crab pots. They only draw 7 amps each. The coast guard even asked me where I got them. They did not seem to have a problem. I show up in the fog from quite a distance. I have had several other charter boats ask me where I got them. Now there are more boats in the basin who have them.

Have you ever seen a Commercial boat run sodium's? I doubt they're breaking the law intentionally.
