Extra hands for birds this year
« on: February 05, 2014, 12:38:10 AM »
My friend and I want to try our hands at bird hunting this year. Upland, turkey, ducks, etc. I just got my first shotgun this past holiday season and I want to learn all about bird hunting. We're both avid learners, fit, can handle our own out there, and we're excited.

I'd be down to meet up, do some trap or skeet and talk about locations of hunts, things we should prepare for, etc. I know hunters usually are very secretive about their spots and their techniques, but hey every experienced hunter out there was taught by someone.

I suggest you do your scouting here:
http://wdfw.wa.gov

Visit that site and the WDFW Regional Office near you.

Buy a copy of the WA Atlas & Gazetteer and a map of the Snoqualmie National Forest (grouse). Scout BEFORE the seasons.

Join / Attend meetings of WA Waterfowl, Pheasants Forever and the Ruffed Grouse Society.

Good luck.

T-bone had some good suggestions.  The spots we have a good because we work hard to find them and don't pressure theses areas  often.   hunt public land and go in deeper and there is where you will find birds....
