I haven't been out of the public school system that long (graduated on 04). I remember my friends and I getting harassed about our wallet chains on almost a daily basis claiming they were classified as weapons. I asked to see this list of weapons that they kept referring to, when its was given to me all it said was "no weapons on school grounds", yeah it was that general. at which point I pulled a #2 pencil and a pair of scissors out of my pocket and said "there take these too then, they are dangerous weapons".

Needless to say we went around and around for a few weeks and finally they lost interest. but its been getting out of hand long before that.

P.S. I also had a teacher try and send me home for wearing a Hooters shirt...they didn't win that one either  :chuckle:

 :yeah:

Exactly my thoughts, I graduated from high school in 06 and had the exact same problems for wearing a Guinness shirt, not big on the beer but it was a free t-shirt I won at a poker game :dunno:.  My dad told me stories of him and his friends bringing their .22 rifles to show and tell when they were younger and having their hunting rifles in the trucks for after school got out they would go deer hunting.  I would hate to see what would happen nowadays. :bash:

It is hard for me to imagine that people still send their kids to public schools in the first place.

What's so hard?

My kids go to what are ranked as a couple of the "top" public HS in the state.  We feel they are getting a good education that meets their needs.  While they could be classified as more liberal than Dryside schools we moved to this community due to the schools, not the politics of the community.

Check out the results of the kids test scores at the top private rated HS's in the state vs. the top public ones. You might be surprised how far below the top public ones are.....

Private schools can pick who they accept to school. It's not necessarily the teaching that is better, but the students come from better circumstances.

I would sell my home and properties and possessions if it came to that to pay for private school.

The absurdity continues:

Kindergartner Suspended For Bringing Bubble Gun To Class

Washington needs a "Right to be a Kid" bill (a.k.a. Pop Tart bill) like they have in Florida (http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Documents/loaddoc.aspx?FileName=_h7029__.docx&DocumentType=Bill&BillNumber=7029&Session=2014).  This is to send a loud and clear message that the absurd and overzealous actions by some school teachers and administrators will not be supported legally, nor will such unwarranted actions be tolerated by normal and reasonable people.  This should not be viewed as a solution looking for a problem; the problem clearly exists.

There are so many cases. School employees have broad discretion in what is harassment. Even consenting platonic contact can be a violation of school Zero PDA codes.

http://ncac.org/resource/ncac-analysis-the-first-amendment-and-school-policies-on-harassment-and-bullying

If someone feels 1st Amendment Rights or any rights are violated, I say take the school employees to task. My daughter was publicly reprimanded for saying when she grows up she wants to be a Constitutional Lawyer and work for the NRA in grade school.

 :twocents:

Contact FOX News and the NRA; these abuses need to be exposed.  There is no excuse or justification for traumatizing and indoctrinating our youth like this.  Perhaps those that do these things to our kids to impose their personal ideologies should be sued, reprimanded, receive disciplinary action, be removed from their position of power, and be forced to issue a public apology.

We need legislation to prevent these abuses, and to provide strong legal remedies when our kids are abused by such idiocy.

Bubble gun run!!!!!!!!!!! :chuckle:
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Some of the stories in this thread make me want to punch someone in the face with a brick!!

Full disclosure time:  I'm not a Republican, or a Democrat, or a Liberal or a Libertarian or an Anarchist.  I'm a cut-clean-to-the-bone Socialist, big time, 100%.  That's just me.  That's who I am.  But even I in my absolute ultra-far to the Left Socialist mindset can see that this zero-tolerance bull%&$t is one of THE DUMBEST trends right now facing our youth in our schools.  It throws logic and common sense right out the window and victimizes innocent kids and young adults.  It's got to go!  Further, Gun Laws should be and must be regulated at the State level, NOT at the Federal Government level, and if that happens and some super blue state (*cough* California) passes laws to strip people of their gun rights, then the solution is simple: MOVE OUT OF THAT STATE.  The further away from The People that laws and enforcement moves, e.g. all the way up to the Federal Government, the further away from reality and what life is for a normal, every day citizen it becomes.

This is to inform you that I didn’t die young.
Age swept past me but I caught up.

Yesterday I got a call from the outside world but I said NO in thunder.
I was a dog on a short chain and now there’s no chain.
