Wild Turkey Calling Contest
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:49:12 AM »
Per my e-mail discussions with Cabelas - Tulalip Event Coordinator, I will be helping her with a Wild Turkey Calling Contest on Sun Mar 16th @ noon.  These are a lot of fun ... bring you favorite calls.

Would like to be there! Of course I would have to leave my calls at home. Im so dang good, Id end up calling all the birds all the way over from the east side. And that just wouldn't be right! Have fun, hope to run into you again. I do not know if I told you that 2012 I got all 3 birds with a muzzleloading shotgun, I borrowed from Rich Reathaford, NWTF. It was a hoot, if you ever get a chance try it. Also I got all 3 birds last year. 10th year in a row now. Kinda thinking about trying a bow this year. ??? Just to mix it up and maybe be the first to get all 3 birds with all 3 weapons. But what will I do if I get em all with a bow,,, how to beat it? Maybe next year I could try and catch each one by hand? :-)   Hey take care, and maybe see ya soon!

Congrats ... well done ... good to hear you're still kicking ... between work and family illnesses I haven't been getting out other than the spring hunt on the eastside, but I have been filling my tags.

I do have a black powder shotgun, a compound bow, and a recurve to go along with my two regular twelve gages.  I need to dust them off and pop some birds with them too.   Best wishes to you on continued good harvests.

Its funny you show me that pic. This is one of the things I like to do. I have personally caught 5. Works really well in the fall. I noticed if you surprise them and run real fast. They hit the deck before going to flight and that is when I pounce. That is probably why coyotes and bobcats do so well

Sweet!  I'll do my best to make it over there for that.  Will it be a NWTF sanctioned contest?
