870 over both of them.

 :yeah:

Never tried the 887, but I own several 870's and once bought a new Nova to try it out.  It was sold the next week.  No comparison to the 870 in my opinion.  I know several others who did the same as well.  It's not junk by any means, but I've never known anybody who shot 870's, tried a Nova, and switched. :twocents:

I have two nova's no problems in the 11 year's I've owned them now they're loaner guns because I upgraded to the super black eagle. My buddy's son has an 887 and the last two hunts he had to switch to the nova because of problems.

I did the same. I wore out an 870 Express, bought a Nova to replace it.  Shot the Nova for part of a season and sold it to buy another 870.

The Nova was a decent gun, just didn't fit well and I was missing shots I never missed with my 870.

Remington 887 = poor quality (fit & finish) – sticky action -  known jammer

Remington 870 = the older ones are good guns, the newer ones have the same issues as the 887 – big time jammer with the 3.5” chamber

Nova = rattle trap – kicks like a mule, but at least they are reliable.

Get a Winchester or a Browning.

My Nova rattled like CP said, a little mouse skin padding inside the foreend quieted it down quite a bit.

I do like my old 870 wingmaster, but it isn't made for three inch shells.

Just a note to the OP, if you have not used a 3 1/2 inch pump gun, try it out, it is a really long stroke IMO.  If I was going to buy a new shotgun, I would consider the semi's in the 3 1/2" or go with just a three incher.

Had an 887 for awhile before it got delivered to the wrong location by Remington and subsequently lost. I had sent it in for repairs because it was jamming every shot and the sight rib was crooked because its molded onto the barrel. Would never own another, and will refrain from buying from Remington because they hosed me on the loss of the gun. Bought a nova the following year and it was better, but definitely kicks like a mule. Unfortunately the search is still on because the Nova doesnt fit me very well. So, through all of this, my trusty and worn out Mossberg 500 has kept me going. I paid 235 bucks for it brand new 6 years ago. And have by far gotten my moneys worth. Here for christmas, I will be requesting a newer model. Hope this helps!
