There's another thread where one of the posters is insinuating that silence from the apple growing community regarding wolves indicates an acceptance of wolves according to the present wolf plan. What say you? Are you glad that we have wolves now because they'll eat the elk and deer which ruin your crop? Or, do you think that they're going to be more trouble than benefit to us? Thanks,
PMan

I'd love to hear from some commercial growers if they're on the site. But KF, please tell us how you feel.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Most all the commercial grows aren't even close to wildlife. I doubt they have to worry about wolves running around Quincy or the lower Yakima valley. Maybe the guys in  northern river valleys might have to worry but being most of these farms are still small family farms I think they have better things to worry about.

I know my hunting partner (Wenatchee) has a few crops, and he'd put as many of those damn dogs down as possible.

I know of a couple big apple orchards that fall in wolf country. Most of thier properties are high fenced to keep the deer out, and un authorised people. I would imagine that those fences keep most people off the property that do not belong. I know that on this side of the mountains a REAL 6ft fence helps to keep basic thugs off property so i would bet that it really helps  keep people out that thief stuff on those places as well. :twocents:

Deer really weren't an issue in the orchards I worked.

If Global gap restrictions keep getting worse all orchards will be fenced and all wildlife kept out.

I've got apples in my back yard so does that qualify me to respond here?  I've got a thing or two to say about wolves.

I've got numerous apple trees myself.  :chuckle:
