Release with string twang

So I just got my Destroyer 340 restrung with new custom strings from Denton and Rock Creek Archery.  I have a Flathead release.  I noticed that I have a slight string twang when I shoot.  I couldn't figure it out.  I got my wifes Tru Fire caliper release and adjusted it for me then shot with that.  No twang.  Is it the way the Flathead releases the string that would give me the twang.  Here is a picture of the flathead that I have. What do you all think?

Don't know anything about flat heads we changed to the hook along time ago good luck.

Really shouldn't be much difference in string twang between the two.  Could be the way the release fits you.  If you creep or torque when hitting the trigger with one and not the other you might be hitting the suppressor differently.  And, with the new strings perhaps the pressure on the suppressor has changed (slight brace height change) .  Try getting very close to the target and shoot a few arrows with your eyes closed.  Make sure all your attention is in keeping solid back tension well against the wall.  Then slowly hitting the trigger without losing that back tension. If you still get the twang check the tension and position of your suppressor against the string.

If the twang goes away when you shoot with your eyes closed try changing the length of the strap to match the wife's.  Most shooters have their releases set way too long for proper shooting.  That can sometimes lead to a good many difficulties.

I was wondering about the length.  I got mine setup where the trigger is right at my first knuckle back from the to of my finger.  My wives maxed out in lengthy its right in front of my second knuckle from the to of my finger.

Takes a while to get used to it, but that's right where you want to be

I'll bet you need a little suppressor adjustment as well.  Does that have the 2013 suppressor or prior years?

OK, that's the older model.  I like the older one for durability, but if you are having TWANG issues you might call the BT pro shop or ask Denton if you can upgrade to the newer one.  I wasn't so sure about the new ones, but they have been a nice addition to all the bows I have with that style.  But, no need to change if the release or adjustments solve the problem.

On the suppressor subject...how should they be adjusted? Do you want the string in contact with the bumper, or a slight gap? I've got about 1/16" gap or more and I am having a little noise. The bumper looks wore to me. Don't really know.

If you are shooting a Wrist strap release the head should not be any farther forward than where your finger joins your hand, and you should NEVER hit the trigger. If you are trying to shoot backtension you will never HIT the trigger. You can not continue to aim and then think about setting your trigger off , Every shot should be a surprise. It will feel short but when you anchor to your string and put pressure on the release it will lengthen slightly. the tip of your pointer finger is the most sensetive part. You never want to be able to hit it with the fingre tip. The trigger should be in the middle of the  first joint closest to your hand.

I've always set mine so there is enough pressure to stop any rattle or vibration, but not enough to effect string angle.  I also make sure they allow the string to rest at a true center.  Many of the new suppressors fully capture the string.  On those I always leave a minimal gap.

Radsav you hit it right on.  Since I had the trigger on my finger tip I was twisting the head and tweaking my d loop.  Went down the Denton to figure it out too.  Used another release shortened no twang anymore.    Went to the Trufire buckle strap and it works really good and not twang at all.
