Did you fill your 2008 bull tag? The Nile isn't bad in the early season, way more crowded in the late season IMO. Lots of camps on the edge of the wilderness along the 1500 rd. from what I saw last year, never spent much time hunting the bumping, lots of space to get away from folks though.

Ive never killed an elk :( Thats why i was pretty bummed when they took that unit away i finnaly had me a spot, with no other hunters elk coming in, 2012 Missed a cow elk at 20 yards, i had dropped my bow the night before out of the stand, but it didnt look like it did any damage i couldnt shoot at nothing to see if my sites were off because it was too dark and headed back in early the next morning, took my shot and went over her back! it was the last day! got home my sight was bent

I've never hunted the unit during early season but I do like the idea of having it closed for general season to allow quality tag holders a closed area with little pressure.  I wouldn't oppose having some cow permits for archers in coming years.

I got a 6 point bull out of there in 09. Great unit for big bulls. I'm with D-Rock keep it a permit only area. Some cow tags for the area wouldn't hurt anything. It was nice hunting for a bull with vary little hunters around.

we're just trying to understand.  It was only open for general season for the 2010, 2011and 2012 seasons I believe.

That's the way I remember it too.

Bumping is as packed in the early season as the Nile is in late season.  Even out in the wilderness you will run into other hunters.  LOL... that's where I met Todd_ID.
