Blacktail hide
« on: August 08, 2017, 07:29:29 PM »
Blacktail hide unfleshed put in freezer for 10 months (lips, ears, eyes not part of hide)...is this possibly still good or will it be a loss?  Hide in garbage sack rolled up.  No dirt.  I've never had a hide tanned so I'm curious. Thanks

10 months...its should be fine. I took in a bear several months ago that was in the owners freezer, un-fleshed/un-turned and only wrapped in one garbage bag for 6 years...The tips of the ears were slightly freezer burned, but it was fine and turned out great as a tanned wall hanger.
