Cougar I took a few years ago on mineral mt.

Took this cat as he watched us eat our lunch on a ridge on mineral mt, looke behind us as he was just sitting there on his haunches watching us..300 mag took care of him, one in the chest, cat actually took the shot and made it about 50 yards, was surprised, found the nosler partition under the skin above the hips. Cat was 6' 10" nose to end of tail and Game dept estimated him at 8+ yrs of age.

biologist estimated 140 lbs or so. I missed a bigger one the same year at 425 yards. The only 2 cougars I have ever seen, same year lol

I work in the woods here in NE WA and have easily seen over a dozen cougars in the last 15 years. When it snows, you definitely can tell how many are around. I've seen tracks in alot of the rural areas just outside of Colville. I'm not surprised to see tracks anywhere these days. I've come close to lowering the hammer on a few over the years while deer hunting, but when I waited for them to stop so I could get a shot, they never did.

I have seen 9 over the years and have killed two. The second one I killed was on the move at 400 yards. I let out a sound somewhat like a cat yowling and it stopped the cat, enabling me to take the shot. I did the same, though with a bit different sound, on this years spring bear. I suggest giving it a try on predators. It has worked for me. Brian.
