stevemiller, I don't disagree with some of your points, but we need to keep this on topic to send the commissioners a message.

This is real. When I was at the Predatormasters hunt in Feb. The Antis Hammered us. We can no longer have our Banquit any more in Las Cruses even tho we hunted for fun. They lied to the city counsel. The Good new we moved nexted year to Tuscon Arizona. Guess were the SCI Head Quarter's.. They stopped a big hunt in Oregon to they have BLM in there pocket. Rick

Sent! Thanks for the draft. I also added a sentence about the boost to the local economy by people traveling to and eating and fueling up at the locations of Derbys!

I'll send that email later tonight. Remember what happened because of the octopus picked off a beach last year? F&W caved in over that fiasco. Emotion rules the day unfortunately.

I figured this would happen eventually ...Posting all these dead coyotes on the forum ...we all know they sit at home looking at our sheet ...I just wish we were stacking wolves up like coyotes  :yeah: no matter what the dept says about I hope they realize that we are the best a predator control and Just because we can not have a contest I hope they know that coyotes will still be shot ....we just post all the coyotes we kill without a contest ...just to jerk their chain .... :dunno: I get on it as soon as I have dinner and a taughty !

Message sent!  I've seen the damage coyotes can do to livestock and deer firsthand!  Grant county has far too many of those buggers.

I have no issue with killing coyotes but why advertise it as a "contest" instead of a less irritating title. "Group Outing?" I know that coyote hunters could come up with something much better than that though!!! I always felt the  term "Fish In" when our Steelhead Club targeted a river, wasn't a great choice of words either.

I thought it needed to say a little more, mainly because I am never short on words.   :chuckle:  here is a copy of what I sent.  I am sure it can be improved, but I thought it would be good to have a broader diversity in message

Quote
Dear WDFW Commissioners,

I would like to express my strong support for coyote hunting and some of the related contests. This predator hunting provides a great deal of recreation for hunters across the state and much needed management of Washington's undermanaged coyote population. Contests also haze Coyotes at one collective occasion, so the coyotes know that they are not welcome near farm land specific to the penning areas of farm animals.  Coyote hunting is one more occasion for us to get our children outside and teach them how nature works, and contests provide a little additional incentive for the youth to have the desire to participate.

While I understand that hunting in general is not wildly popular by those that don’t understand it, I am also a realist and know that we that hunt provide a valuable resource to the states resources by managing said predators.

We have seen in various news reports where Coyotes have moved into suburban areas and how those coyotes interact with public.  Typically this involves those that don’t understand hunting asking for expensive game department and sheriff department resources to remove the problem predator by using 911 or calling the State Patrol.

The state cannot afford loss of hunting revenue or the increased cost of game department/sheriff department resources to handle the future increasing coyote population.

Please support Predator hunting in all of its methods and types.

Thank you for your consideration,

Regards,
