AR-15 accessories
« on: March 04, 2014, 10:34:35 PM »
OK, so I'm feeling a little like an old, fat version of Rambo.

I'm still an AR newb....

I got my first AR, and have added:   Quad picatinny rail hand guard, New scope, night light, vertical grip, bi-pod, single point sling.

What am I missing as far as AR accessories?

I think I'm addicted to buying accessories.

I've been picking up a few varieties of ammo to try.

Just call me.................................................    DANBO!

Shoulder thing that goes up.  It's a must have.  It's like racking a pump shotgun.  It makes the bad guys wet themselves at the mere sight of it - well ignorant libs, anyway.

Keep your Gun simple.  If it is a defensive gun, then all you need is a gun light and maybe a vertical grip if you want.  Keep it light, and clean.  All I would run is an optic and a flashlight.  Everything else is just for show.

The best accessory I know is also about the cheapest--a Winter Trigger Guard.  Good for those cold days when you have gloves on.  Never liked those straight trigger guards.  That's why they can be hinged out of the way...  :twocents:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I make the following upgrades to all my ar's

best trigger group I can find
bad lever
ambi mag drop
ambi safety
quick release takedown pins (yhm make a good set)
oversized mag release button

I am also a big fan of the JP enterprises silent recoil buffer.
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/316607/jp-enterprises-silent-captured-recoil-buffer-spring-ar-15?cm_vc=wishList

none of these are accessories I suppose, more of upgrades.  For me personally I agree with the above post that with a rifle less stuff on it is better.

about the only true accessories I add is a level bubble that mount on the rail for my longer range ar's (us optics makes a nice one), and a ver. front grip.  If you want to use a bipod then having a bipod adaptor for a lower rail is nice to have.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
