Where to get a lab pup?

I'm wondering where I can get a good Lab these days.  My first lab past away 5 years ago, and I'm looking to find a new 4-legged grouse hunting partner.  What does one look for in a pup that are signals of good gene's/temperament?  Must love kids and fenced yard!  Male or female?  I have a female yorkie and a male cat along with a 9, 4 and 1.5 year old.  Any recommendations would be great!

Look at long hollow retrievers in ellensberg. I don't know when Ryan will have another breeding but j got my pup from tlhim a few months ago. He's a great pup learns fast good with my 8 month old daughter and is crazy about birds and retrieving. Also look at Lee salmon at wind river. She should also have some good breedings coming up soon. I wouldn't hesitate to get a pup from either one of them.

Check out Warren's operation at Ireland Farms.  He's a site sponsor on here.  I'm very happy with my last pup that came from his lines.  She's going on 3 now and is a excellent hunter while still being docile at home.  There are a number of folks on here with his pups if  they want to chime in.

Pretty set on a Lab.  I had one years ago, and as far as I'm concerned, they're the best all-around dog for both home and field.

I'm agreeing with you there!
I enjoy grouse hunting with my current lab. He finds plenty of birds- but I often don't get shots at them. My Britt (by virtue of pointing) put me in a bit of a better shooting position at times. I killed a higher % of birds I'm sure; but that isn't what it's all about anyway. Just a thought I had when you mentioned grouse hunting.

Bullklr:  I agree.  My first priority is genetics, then family-friendly, then hunting. Grouse is just something that I'd like to do during the off season. To me, hunting ability and instincts are a bonus!

 Warren at Ireland farms is a great option.  Good guy to work with, I have a 7 month old male  pup from a Ben and zoey litter and am very pleased!

Everyone has their opinion on who has the best dogs. Most are just that. If the person is selling the dog for more than free they should be doing these could test; hips and elbows, EIC, PRA and CNM. If BOTH parents haven't been tested walk away unless it's a free puppy or you are rescuing one from the pound. No exceptions or excuses.
