Forgot to put wedge under otter pelt on the stretcher and can't get it off. Any tips?

Fill up the bath tub and soak it up.  Then just have to re-dry it.

Dont know about otter, but with rats you can wrap them in a damp towel for awhile and it should come off

Otter are tough to get off the stretcher anyway so I think you are going to have to rehydate and restretch. I don't think I would soak in a tub though. I would just wrap in some wet towels.

If your stretchers have a lot of taper you can try giveing the nose of the stretcher a sharp blow to the floor. That will sometimes get a stuck pelt started but not as likely with otter.

First I would turn it upside down and hit the nose against the floor a few times that worked for me once. If that doesn't work wrap it in damp towels then dry again

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the smack down first.

Once you smack the nose down on the floor put the base of your stretcher board in your bench vise. This frees up both your hands to work the pelt off.
