Looking for a rod and reel for the wife
« on: March 08, 2014, 01:12:11 AM »
Well, after years of fishing I've only been able to coax my wife on to the boat a handful of times.  Today she asked me to buy her a Freshwater license and a new rod and reel.

She wants a PINK rod and reel combo.   We're talking a serious salmon rod and reel she can fish from our boat on the Columbia River for salmon and steelhead.

She apparently saw one that had the Susan G. Komen logo on it and wanted to know where to get one.

???  Any thoughts without breaking the bank?

I was thinking about the Okuma SST Ladies Edition, and a line counter reel like the Tekona.  But where to get it in pink?

Pretty short rods at 5'6" but I like the look of them.  I'll keep them in mind.  Thanks

This what you're looking for?

http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Okuma-SST-Ladies-Edition-Casting-Rod/productDetail/Casting-Rods/prod999901366909/cat101028

9'- rated for 1-6 ounces; I think they make other models

Choices are limited when it comes to pink, but I'd fish that! SSTs are nice rods for the $$

Reel might be tougher. Those Avets are nice for a heavier reel- spendy. Shakespeare makes a pink baitcaster that sells for around 30$- don't know if I'd trust it but it could be worth a look.

I think Im going to get her the Okuma and then a Tekota reel.  I have a friend that owns Hydrographics Inc in Newberg and I see if he can fix the gold color.

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
