my 11 week pup
« on: March 08, 2014, 03:18:12 PM »
Here's a video of how my 11 week black lab female is doing on shed training. The antler was previously hidden. Hope the link works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAObkgAM5tE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

"Private"

You need to change your privacy setings for anyone to see the video.

Question:  Did you wear gloves when handling the antler that you hid?  If not, your dog may be keying in on your scent rather than the antler.  I was on the beach a couple weeks ago and found a cool rock that I wanted.  I set it up on a larger rock about three feet off the ground and continued my walk with our dog.  On the way back, over a half hour later, she was walking past the boulder, when she got downwind, she instantly turned and went straight to the rock I had picked up.

I look forward to seeing this video when we can.

Ok i fixed it  I do not use gloves, from what I've read even wearing gloves they will still get an un natural scent on them and the dog will always smell that, but they are smart enough to put the actual shed scent together with the antler :dunno: we'll see when she's older and I get her to the woods I guess

Is that pup also going to see some action on pheasants along with the shed hunting?
