Moose auction tag sold...
« on: March 08, 2014, 09:10:22 PM »
$36k at the WSF banquet tonight. Congrats to the winner. Hopefully there's still some moose left for him.

You wouldn't be donating anything to conservation. That's why they do what they do.

It's more about supporting Sheep and the Wild Sheep Foundation in Washington, than spending money on a Moose hunt.

Moose went for $44k last year.
Was always in the teens it seemed like before that. If there's any moose left for the hunt, we've got some world class shiras bulls in this state. Seems almost logical it would be as much as the elk tag.

I would think a moose tag would be worth a lot more than an elk tag. Elk tags are over the counter while moose tags are draw only and most people will never draw.

While I agree with you, branch antlered bull tags in quality areas in e-wa are not over the counter, bobcat.

Most hunters would probably be more impressed with a 400 inch bull elk than a 175 inch Shiras moose.

However, the odds of getting a world record moose in Washington are greater than the odds of getting a world record elk.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I'm pretty sure it sold $40k for it last year. Rumor has it that the bull that was taken will be the new state record once its scored.

The guy that bought it last night was the same guy that bid it up last year. He is a friend of a friend,  so I know he has purchased the tag 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years. Both of these guys hunt with the same guide, so he must know where another toad is hiding.
The best friend a guy could have asked for. RIP chasing pheasants in heaven Denali girl.

I had a great time and almost got that Rocky Mountain deadhead..... then I woke from my slumber and decided the wife would say "you spent what on what?"

Great evening and I highly recommend if you can attend next year you should.  Fantastic organization and commitment to conservation.
