Texas hogs
« on: March 12, 2014, 05:50:53 AM »
Anybody been to Texas and kill any hogs down there? I am going next week to visit family, and my brother-in-law has a friend with a bunch of property and his friend goes out with his dogs pins the hogs down and slices their throats. :/ I dont think I would ever get that close to a hog, but I wouldnt mind shooting one or 5 lol. He says they just tear the crap out of their property!

I went down lasr week and piled them up pretty good.  We killed 18 on our best day- all between 100-250.
You will pretty safe if your buddy's dogs are any good.  They lock those hogs down pretty well.

Good luck and take pictures!!

I was just with friends.  We hunted over north of Houston... near College Station.

Find a guy with a dog box and make friends!!  :)  Most of them are happy to have someone help hold dogs.

Well we weren't able to put any hogs down, but my buddy did get a coyote, we were driving through the pasture and the dog was running from right to left about a hundred yards in front of us, not a full out sprint but a good pace. I squealed a little call out with my hand and he stopped on the spot and was dropped with one shot from my buddy's .243, I will get a pic up later. Right after we shot the dog, a lone boar ran out of some bush from our right and ran straight in front of us about 150 yards away, all three of us cracked off some rounds at it but there was no stopping him. I will be back down here in november so I will definitely be going again, and I will be bringing my own rifle too!
