6.5mm 160gr Matrix VLD
« on: March 22, 2014, 09:18:12 PM »
I got my 160 Matrix VLDs in today. That's a good looking bullet! I haven't really nailed down what I'm going to do with them yet, but it should be fun no matter what it is.

160 Matrix, 140 Accubond, 140 Berger

I got a box of the 168 7mm VLDs as well. I'll try those in the 284 Win Striker. Which, on a side note, was doing very well hitting rocks at 965 yards today. 31.4 MOA elevation to get there though with the 168gr Berger at 2645 from the 19" barrel. Still not bad from a pistol.

Jokes on you, that's what freebore is for! ;)

Completely un-related, but a 375 Ruger case necked down to 6.5mm holds 96.4 grains of water on my scale.  ;)

Good looking bullets, I've only used the 7mm 190's with exellent results.

A Matrix 7mm(.284) 190gr VLD, compared to a 6.5 Grendel cartridge.

I got a box of the 168 gr 7mm Matrix bullets as well. I'm going to see how they do in the 284 Win Striker. Right now I'm using the 168 Berger, but they can be hard to find. The 190 is just too heavy for the 284 in a 19" barrel. Honestly, the 168 is probably too heavy too.

I think I know what that reamer might be! ;)

I have been running them in my 264wm for awhile.  BC is slightly less than advertised, finding it closer to .660.  Still impressive though. Will find out how they work on critters in a couple weeks.
