Got my new CVA Accura V2 Northwest Edition!
« on: March 21, 2014, 08:44:23 AM »
I preordered this rifle earlier this month and totally without notice it showed up on my door step yesterday! :IBCOOL:

I was at work late last night and had to leave early this morning, so I haven't had a chance to really look it over, but I shouldered it and ran the break action a few times.  It pulls up and feels great.  Nicely balanced and very comfortable with the thumbhole stock.
I will do a more thorough review after I get time to take it apart and clean it and then hopefully shoot it soon.

But I was able to snap a couple photos before I ran out of the house:

That looks sweet! Good luck!  What powder/bullet combination are you going to try?

I hope so. It's been over a year now that he has owned it.

:chuckle: Although I haven't shot it nearly as much as I'd like I have shot it a bit. I even killed a buck with it last December.  I have had some serious issues with this rifle (that are documented in other threads here).  But after I talked to Muzzleloaders.com (who I bought the rifle from) about my issues they made it right and shipped me a new rifle.  I really like the fit of this rifle and I really like shooting it.  My only complaint is you are stuck shooting musket caps.  I prefer #11 mag caps and I think the firing pin setup this rifle has would work much better with #11 caps rather than musket caps. I mounted a scope on it a couple weeks ago and I'm going to go do some bullet testing one of these weekends I will post up my results afterward.

Hi, I'm looking at buying this exact rifle for muzzleloader hunt in WA this year.  I'm  curious what bullet/load does it like the best? I know each barrel can prefer different load, but am curious to hear your experience.  Did you stick with the factory sights or switch to a peep sights?  If so which peep?

kselkhunter - I haven't tested many bullets in this rifle yet.  I have been shooting 250 grain Hornady SST's on top of 110 grains of Triple 7 ffg.  This load shoots good.  The SST's shot the best out of my old Elkhorn and I have a good stock of them, so this is the bullet I decided to start with when I got the Accura.  I have been using the factory sights and don't really have any complaints about them.  They aren't the highest quality, but not terrible either.  They definitely work.  With that said, I have been wanting to try a peep sight and will probably end up putting a Williams on it before this fall.  I will keep this thread updated as I do more shooting and testing with this rifle.
