« on: March 22, 2014, 12:19:26 AM »
I'm looking for some advise.Im new to bow hunting and I've been watching the classifieds. For the same price I can get a Z7 Extreme or a G3 carbon element the Z7 Extreme has a sight and the G3 doesent. What bow is better? Please explain what the big difference is in the two.

the z7 is already going to a new home  :tung:  :tung:

the g3 seems like a good bow, although from what I know, its a dual cam which takes more tuning than a single cam. You also need to get a rest, sight, quiver, release, and stabilizer for that G3 still. It seems pretty cool though but youre gonna spend another 200-400+ easy

being your first year, Im not sure if you wouldnt appreciate a mid-range priced bow just as much.  :dunno:
You could get a whole package ready to shoot for around 500.

As long as you learn to shoot good and keep razor sharp broadheads any modern(american) bow should do.  :twocents:

Thanks for the info. The G3 says it just needs a sight.I just wonder is the carbon bow will last and is 700 a good deal? Ebay has the same bow for 900 800 and 1000 used but that's ebay.Im wanting to trade him a AR for it .But if you guys think it's good 7 bills works for me.

Carbon Element is a dang fine bow.  And due to who the first owner is I'd bet it's in good shape too!  I'd take it any day, month, year or decade over a Z7.  IMO the main difference between the two is shootability, stability and durability - all of which favor the Hoyt.  I'd say with all you are getting and who you are getting it from $700 is a bargain!

I test dozens of bows each year.  The Element G3 was one of the better bows I tested last year.  Probably one of the two best Hoyt hunting bows ever made.  While all Z7 platform bows have always been on my pooh poop list.

There are a lot of great bows out there that you could get for $499 new.  Some even made by Hoyt and Mathews/Mission!  But if you want to get out of the blocks with a top level, upper tier, status symbol of a bow that Element will be hard to beat.  I'd buy it myself if it didn't have a "Hoyt" logo on it  :chuckle:

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
