Darn It
« on: November 20, 2008, 11:18:09 PM »
I was drinking a cup of Joe this evening, and as I went through the dinning room I looked down and saw something red on the carpet.  I looked close and thought damn !

My 4yo English Pointer just started her cycle.
I had been wondering when she was going to come into heat..... she usually hits during the summer, but not this year !  Of course she knows its hunting season, and all the boys will be in the fields....   Isnt that just like a  woman....LOL>

So if any of you guys are missing a dog, give me a holler they just might have followed me home with Mona...Hehe.

BOTH of our girls went into *season just as the best hunt test cluster of the year (and only a half mile from our home) started up.  It was going to be our first entry ever into Master (Stella) and finishing off a Senior (Mona).

I wouldn't take a bitch in season out hunting in the woods.  'Yotes very attracted, just MHO.  And for that matter, our girls have always tended to get weird during their seasons, suddenly afraid of a garbage bag, no nose for a few days, forget the recall commands....  and so on.

*this is a major reason we got snookered into taking on an ECS puppy by a very close friend of ours.  We were sulking about our girls and she pointed out that the ECS pup was a male, and if we didn't want to show him we were welcome to neuter, our choice entirely.  Weak moment, and now we have Gambel, so-named because his breeder likes her pups named after gamebirds, and he looks like an itty-bitty quail next to a pack of Clumbers.
