Help getting started
« on: March 22, 2014, 10:12:20 PM »
I just got custody of my 13 yr old nephew. He has always wanted to hunt/fish.  So I started him in Hunters Ed (in Granite Falls) I was wanting to know if there are any (free) areas I could take him to shot targets and let him shooting different guns, shotguns, rifle, handgun? We live by Granite Falls however will travel to be able to shoot. They closed all the ones I use to use.  :bash: I want to get him ready for Elk/deer season I will let you know how he does test is Wen shooting test Saturday.  Thank you

Love your avatar! I don't know that area at all but kudos to you for getting him started. I hope somebody chimes in to help. I always try to leave the area cleaner than when I arrived. I think if everyone did that they wouldn't be shutting down so many spots that we used to take for granted. His first harvest will be a memory of a life time. Good luck.

I know you are a little ways away from us, but if you should ever want to come to this area, we plan on taking a weekend to go shoot up in the hills. My Wife, 10 yo, 8 yo and my 6 yo. We have a few different rifles to shoot as well. .243, .270, 308, 20g, 16g, and a AR. Send me a PM if interested.

Huntinggirl......may wanna keep your eyes on this youth board. The next treasure hunt might be a perfect chance to get out and do some exploring, maybe get a chance to practice some outdoor skills. The next hunt is probably in two weeks.
