If you look at the waste on that wolf in the first picture, it's pretty skinny. My guess is you could have acted as threatening as possible and made as much noise as possible and it was still going to take the chance to get an easy meal.

While I think these people were foolish with regards to their dogs and livestock at times

I don't fault them for shooting the dog however. But contrary to the fellow's attempt to slap human emotions and motives on the wolf, I think it was simply a very hungry animal that got interested in the wrong place.

Totally agree with the part I didn't strike a line through, and it's a scenario that's going to play out over and over and over again.

I don't know how you can demonize these people when they've done everything they can to prevent conflict, then they invented new ones.   If I were a wolf lover I'd demonize this "rogue wolf" rather than the people in this case.  These people went well above and beyond in trying to prevent conflict, far above what average Idahoans are going to do.

but hey, don't let me help out your play book  :chuckle:

They were warned of wolves in the area before anything bad happened, they even acted surprised when they took their dogs out to the exact area they were warned about and got harassed by wolves.

I'd have changed some things upon learning wolves were around, they did not and paid the price. Oh well, they took care of the problem after the fact.

Sooooo....  What you are saying is they should stay in their houses, not feed their animals, and let them starve to death because the wolves are coming onto their pastures to kill their livestock?????!!!! You are ignorant and must live in the city where there are not wild animals near your, what, kitties and doggies you keep in your house.  I suppose when mice coming into your house you give your house away and move somewhere else also!  I think the only cure for ignorant people like you would be to have put you in the horse pasture and hope you were not eaten.  It just makes me mad, sorry!

This wolf is very bad for pro-wolf groups, so they feel they must drag these fine people through the mud saying they didn't do enough.

The wolf is about driving cattlemen out of business, people out of the country, and killing what you and I hunt! Those of you who still think that the Canadian wolves belong in in the lower 48 should talk to the people who have had to deal with them for several generations in Canada and Alaska. The rest of you should have figured out by now that the USFWS and WDFW really don't care what your opinion is, (the wolf is here to stay).  So don't get to upset when you have some ding-bat Sgt that says the wolves were just trying to get your dog to submit while they are trying to kill your pet/pets, after all whats the fastest way to move up the ladder with WDFW.

Kevin and Jennifer have already went through the same nightmare with the USFWS and IDFG, (14 years of it)  that we are going through with the USFWS and WDFW. The sick part about this is, WDFW already know the outcome and yet they ignore the studies and wolf history from Canada, Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.

Same BS just a different state, and the games continue.

Sorry you feel that way. This whole thing makes me think of guys whining about hawks eating their chickens in their chicken coops and wanting to shoot the hawks. Of course, many people successfully string net over their coops and the problem gets solved but that would be common sense.

They were well within their rights to shoot the wolf. I am not convinced they did much to avoid problems upon learning wolves were around however.

Hundreds of hunting hours were spent to harvest this wolf.

So they harvested this wolf? This needs to be reported on the "Harvest, not kill" thread.   :chuckle:

This is just sad.  Good job taking that wolf down.  Simply Cannot imagine attacking and slandering these folks.  It is a sad commentary that so many people value the Wolf above Humans.
