The last time I noticed this question come up there were not a whole lot of us that knew how to make it work very well with our DSLR's. Hold the shutter release down with our hand for the duration seemed to be the best way most of us knew how to operate it. Compared to the shutter cable with our old 35mm's.
So I was goofing around with mine today. It is an older Nikon D-50. I have a remote control setting and the remote control unit. I never pursued the BULB setting before until now. And in times past when ever lightning would be in my area I'd just kind of have to say to myself I miss my 35mm. Well as a matter of fact that remote control unit works just like the cable did. Click it once to open the shutter and click it again to close the shutter.

Just to easy. So now you can catch those lightning storms when you out in the field guy's

No excuses.
