Antler Engraving
« on: March 25, 2014, 08:54:22 AM »
I want to get an antler engraved with a couple names and date for my wedding. I though I would reach out here and see if anyone done this or know someone who does?

What is the best way to do it, engraving right into the bone or plain a section out and then have it burned in? I will be doing this on a large elk shed.

Let me know what you guys thing, thanks!

I have been playing with a dremel on some antler and I think using a burner would work more effectively.  No matter what its gonna stink like singed hair.  You need a bench vise as well to work most effectively and I dont have one now that I graduated.

there is this guy on facebook who does some interesting stuff not sure if you have access but https://www.facebook.com/nolimit.naturalarts

he is in Oregon so not too far away but no idea if he does private commission type work.  I can dig up an email and phone number as well if you want it.

Engraved all the way with a dremel.  I've done a couple, but have friends who are really good.  Make SURE if you practice that you have a high quality mask, as the dust is lethal on your lungs. :twocents:

Dremel tool will work just fine. You do not have to go very deep in bone if your only doing a name or something like that.
Here are few I have had done.
