Semi-large group of animals - recommendation?
« on: March 26, 2014, 12:09:11 PM »
Hi,

My friend and I have just returned from Argentina, and, we're looking for a local (WA, MT, ID, OR) shop that would be interested in this group of work.

Texas Dall - 2 shoulder mounts
Texas Dall - horns only
Fallow Deer - 2 shoulder mounts
Russian Boar - shoulder mount
Fox - full mount - nature scene
Blackbuck - shoulder mount
Red stag - 2 shoulder mounts
Dorsett Ram - 2 shoulder mounts

Who would the group recommend for this kind of work, and why? Also, could we expect a discount for this volume of an order? We are definitely not looking for the "cheapest", but rather the best value.

Thank you in advance for the net.wisdom on this one.

Sorry....but I'm gonna say it......you need pictures of this hunt in order to be provided with any recommendations. Shame on you sir  :nono: for posting such a list of animals and no pics of dead critters, the weapons used to kill (not harvest) them, and a little about the hunt.

Cheers!

I have always used Cedar River Taxidermy, site sponsor and has a banner at the top of the trophy room pages.  For me he has done a great job on my standard stuff, deer, bear and cougar.  I have never been lucky enough to afford a hunt for the types of animals you have taken but I have seen plenty of the odd stuff at Rick's shop and am always impressed with the quality of his mounts.  I would take a look at his website and give him a call to see what he is working on now.  I think every time I have been to his shop he has had something exotic that he has been working on.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Fair Enough! The hunt took place in Santiago del Estero province, about 600 km from Buenos Aires. The gun used for all of the animals shown below was a Blaser R8 in 6.5x55, topped with a Bushnell Elite 6500. Most animals succumbed to a single round. 140 grain Accubonds at 2655 fps did the trick.

My friend used my R8 and his Thompson Encore handgun in 7mm-08 for his animals. My Blaser with the 9.3x62 was also used for a drop horn water buffalo, not pictured.

These pics are of mine, I don't feel like it is my place to post the others!

For some reason, the Dorsett just called to me!

Those are awesome animals. Thanks for sharing. Check out Cedar River, Nature's Way, and Michelle Nelson for taxi recommendations.
